Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) is complex, layered, and often deeply hidden — especially in cases of coercive control. As relationally-oriented therapists, we are trained to hold nuance, work with both parties, and promote emotional safety. But what happens when risk to safety isn’t just emotional — it’s literal?
Led by Dr Katie Kjelsaas (Clinical Psychologist, EFT therapist and supervisor) and Annie Solomon (Specialist DFV Police Officer) this recorded 2-hour webinar invites therapists into a deeper, more collaborative understanding of how DFV is seen and addressed across two worlds: the therapy room and the policing system.

Accessing, organising and deepening client engagement with emotion can challenge the most seasoned experiential therapist.
In this 2-hour webinar, Clinical Psychologist Dr Katie Kjelsaas and Clinical Art Therapist (and creative artist) Alana Sawrey show you ways to sharpen your experiential therapy skills in new and exciting ways.
In this presentation for the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPI), Dr Katie Kjelsaas explores, through brief review of theory, research and a case example, the possibility of using clients’ personal religious faith as part of an attachment-oriented individual therapy process. One possible framework for integrating religious faith using Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy is provided, including specific examples from a case in which the client’s faith played a key role in their healing process.
Free access via the link for AAPI members (just log in), or available to purchase for non-members.
GROWING YOUR THERAPY PRACTICE
There are many elements to growing and maintaining a thriving practice. In this webinar, Dr Katie Kjelsaas shares some of the things she has learned about ethical client retention in growing her thriving practice.
SUPPORTING YOUR CLIENTS TO RE-BOOK
Not only do we expend a lot of energy and resources finding new clients, most often it is in the best interests of those clients to commit to ongoing sessions, so that they receive continuity of care, their challenges can be fully explored and we have the best opportunity to facilitate lasting change.
In this webinar Katie discusses how we can best serve our clients (as well as ourselves, and the process of therapy) in supporting them to commit to ongoing therapy.
She shares tips and techniques to make these conversations with clients a natural extension of your service, within a framework of ethical best practice.

Join Dr Katie Kjelsaas and her supervisee, Gillian Moore, as they discuss and share a resource they co-created in supervision.
This tool was created in response to Gillian’s desire to get clearer about how to work with process blocks when these arise in therapy.
Through role-playing with one of Gillian’s cases, they came up with this seven-step process for responding to such blocks with compassionate curiosity and opening up flexibility to move forward in therapy. They liked it so much they’ve decided to share it with you.
Katie and Gillian have also created a brief video that dives into this process and resource in a little more detail and shows them using it in a role play together, to help you get really clear about how to apply it in your work.
They are offering this resource and the accompanying video free of charge in the hope that it helps you work more flexibly, responsively and fruitfully with process blocks when these arise in your sessions.
