Main areas of clinical interest:

Jean is a registered counsellor with a Master’s in Mental Health – Art Therapy. This means she has specialist postgraduate training and extensive experience in safely supporting people to process complex trauma and mental health concerns using art.

Jean brings a warm, respectful, compassionate and trauma-informed, attachment-based approach to therapy, drawing from a range of evidence-based approaches.

One misconception Jean wants to address is that you do not need to be good at art to engage in art therapy. The focus is on the therapeutic process rather than artistic ability, aesthetics or the end product. Art therapy can provide a safe way to explore and express difficult emotions that may be hard to put into words.

Jean recognises that trauma can be held and experienced within the body and supports clients to develop greater awareness of their body’s responses and build a sense of safety within themselves. Working collaboratively and at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for the clients, she helps to develop practical strategies to regulate the nervous system, reduce trauma responses, strengthen healthy connections, and promote emotional wellbeing and healing.

She draws from a range of therapeutic techniques including:

As a compassionate, non-judgmental counsellor and art therapist, Jean provides a safe and creative space for individuals and couples to explore difficulties, strengthen coping skills and support their mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Where appropriate and welcomed by clients, Jean can integrate faith-based practices into the therapeutic process.
